Deer Park Alpha

Portsmouth, UK: Last year we developed this proposal for a new football stadium and cultural buildings in the centre of Portsmouth. The idea came from a discussion with local planners, so we cannot take credit for the whole idea. However we thought we would do a montage to illustrate the proposal which has been put to the Royal Navy. The site, currently owned and run by the Royal Navy as a sports facility, sits between the city centre and the waterfront. It is an open space (below) in the centre of the UK’s densist city that is unaccessible byt 95% of the population of the city.

It should be opened up to all. This proposal suggests opening it up, planting a forest and burying within it a 30,000 seater multi-use stadium (soccer, concerts, athletics etc), new cultural centre, five-star hotel and new music venue.

An example of this is our recent guidebook to urban design called ‘Where We Live’ which took the enormous subject of urban design and what makes good urban environments and made it accessible to all.

As a team of architects, artists, designers and faciliators, Deer Park Alpha focuses effort into areas that loosely fit within the Built Environment subject area.
