New Jobs, New Futures

Portsmouth, UK: The Government announced yesterday that they would be creating 47,000 new jobs for young people between 18-24. As Chair of City Growth Portsmouth, Carl Leroy-Smith attended the announcement in Portsmouth by Pensions minister Angela Eagle. The scheme will pay young people a minimum wage for a 24 hour week over a 6 month period. The individual has to have been out of work for at least 6 months. Although there is some flexibility. Carl put to the minister that graduates, especially from architecture, are struggling to find placements as part of their course and suggested that being flexible with the eligibility to the scheme would help.

Deer Park Alpha hope to take some new recruits on under this scheme. We want to inspire young people to take up architecture, art and design as a career.
