Deer Park Alpha

Deer Park Alpha are working in partnership with the Design Commission for Wales (DCFW) on a project called Know Your Place.

Know Your Place is a pilot project of five workshops across Wales all about sense of place, how design effects how a place works and ask citizens to think about and articulate what they value about their place.

The project fits into themes from the Wales Spatial Plan including Building Sustainable Communities and Respecting Distinctivness. The workshops are aimed at educating communities in what makes their town or village distinctive.

Deer Park Alpha have designed innvovative workshops that break down complex subjects into manageable, interesting and useful activities. The aim is to produce a toolkit so that the programme can be rolled out across Wales.

Deer Park Alpha is a design, communciation and innovation firm specialising in translating complex and vast subject areas into engaging and useful formats to enable people to be better informed citizens. We work with private companies, local authorities and public sector organisations to help them demystify what they do to their clients, customers and employees.

An example of this is our recent guidebook to urban design called ‘Where We Live’ which took the enormous subject of urban design and what makes good urban environments and made it accessible to all.

As a team of architects, artists, designers and faciliators, Deer Park Alpha focuses effort into areas that loosely fit within the Built Environment subject area.
